Victoria Hospice Launches New Celebrate A Life Website
Leave an online tribute for your loved ones
Victoria, B. C. – In celebration of the 30th annual Celebrate A Life event, Victoria Hospice is excited to launch an online platform that provides individuals and families a new and unique way to remember their loved ones during the holiday season. Beginning December 1st, visit CelebrateALifeVictoria.ca to hang a special, personalized tribute ornament on the new virtual tree.
“For many people, the holiday season can be a difficult time of year when dealing with the loss of a loved one,” notes Victoria Hospice Medical Director Douglas McGregor. “Celebrate A Life gives those that are grieving a gentle, personal way to pay tribute to someone who has died.”
The 30 year tradition of hosting a Celebrate A Life display, staffed by trained Hospice volunteers, will continue at Hillside Centre (next to Scotiabank) from December 1 – 13th. However, sometimes loved ones are far away or just cannot make it to the Celebrate A Life location.
Thanks to support from Victoria based Radar Hill Web Design and Development, Celebrate A Life will extend its reach into the online and social media world. The website allows people to write a personalized message in memory of a loved one, share their tribute through social media, search for tributes, and read through the touching messages left by others. The site also offers tips for coping with grief though the holiday season.
Victoria Hospice invites you to take a moment to step aside from the busy holiday rush this season to Celebrate A Life at Hillside Centre or at CelebrateALifeVictoria.ca. While there is no charge, donations in support of Victoria Hospice patient care and programs are gratefully accepted.
Everyone is also welcome to attend the Celebrate A Life Non-Denominational Memorial Service on Sunday, December 13th, 3-4pm at the University of Victoria Interfaith Chapel.
