This year for Bike to Work Week (BTWW) we registered a team. Over half of our office signed up to participate! Our team logged a total of 218 km the week of May 25th with some staff cycling every day and others just keeping with the fair weather.
The celebration stations that were set up before and after work were great stops along the way with the free snacks, beverages and contests. If you forgot to eat breakfast on your way to work, there was enough fruit and cinnamon buns (And of course, coffee!) to fill you up on your way to work.
On May 29th, BTWW had a weeks end BBQ and the weather couldn’t have been better! At 24 degrees with sunshine, free ice cream and hot dogs the final celebration was a blast. It really ended up being a kick off to summer and a great encouragement to start cycling on a regular basis. Check out the photos from the BBQ with our staff, Shawn, Kendra and Jennifer.
For us, BTWW doesn’t start or stop there. We have several staff that regularly cycle to work – rain or shine – and BTWW has helped encourage more of our staff to start biking to work more often. Shawn has even been cycling to work regularly for over 13 years! Not only is it great exercise, but cycling is great for the environment and can be a relaxing way to start and end your day.
