Newsletter: November 2014

The season is cooling down, our annual open house is a couple of days away, and it is time for another update from the team at Radar Hill. In this issue:

Shannon’s Dad

Rick GrahamRick Graham, father of Radar Hill Programmer Shannon, had a bad fall recently. While in his garage testing the vacuum cleaner after some repairs, he lost his balance on the stairs, fell, and broke his neck. Fortunately he was able to get up and walk after that, and the break wasn’t discovered until later on at the hospital during x-rays. He’s had two surgeries to put in pins and will be stuck with a collar for a couple of months, but he came home Friday after a week in the hospital. Shannon’s family is grateful that it wasn’t worse and feels blessed to have quick and competent service from Vic General Hospital.

Jennifer’s Cat

WeezerLast month, our Office Superstar Jennifer lost her cat Weezer to unknown natural causes. Weezer was a wonderful cat with so much personality he was more than a pet, he was a family member. He had so much love to give and supported Jennifer through many hard times. His sudden passing has been very shocking and he will be dearly missed. If there is one thing to be learned from this, it is that life is short and precious and very moment should be cherished.

Shawn’s Rat

charlieOne of the pet rats in the O’Hara household, Charlie, passed away peacefully from cancer, cuddled on Shawn’s chest. She was 27 months old, a good age for her breed. Charlie was an affectionate, intelligent, energetic, adventurous rat with an impressively long jump.

Dan’s Fish

fishDan is lucky enough to have a brother who is crazy about fishing. This means that on several occasions per year, he fills up the gas tank of a boat that he doesn’t own, buys some bait and watches his brother work his butt off to catch fish. Dan usually drives the boat and reels in fish. This year was a bit spotty during the summer, but the fall Coho fishing was particularly good – on two occasions they caught three or more salmon each. Their largest was 14 lbs., a personal best for his brother. The other highlight occurred over the Thanksgiving weekend when they tail hooked a 12 lb. fish. “What a hoot!” Dan says. “It ran like a freight train and had us convinced we had a 40 lb. Spring salmon on the line.”
